Hey fam!
So they let me get on quick to say hi before I head out to the big bad crazy world! So tomorrow, we get on a bus at 5:45 in the morning and head to the train to Barcelona! Exciting, right? Im super pumped! And surprisingly, not that nervous. It'll be fun. I am definitely ready for a change. I think the train ride is 3 or 4 hours? idk. But we should arrive sometime tomorrow afternoon and party it up till the sun goes down, haha jk. I have no idea what they have planned for us there.. but it'll be cool to meet my comp and get to work! I am SO ready to start working! I love this gospel! I love sharing it!
Hermana Snelson and I had really good success when we went to the park on Saturday morning to talk to people. We got 4 referrals and gave out 4 copies of The Book of Mormon which is wayyy more than we usually get. It was awesome. One lady had us sit down with her and explain the church and everything for a while. It's way cool to see how much people have been prepared by the Lord for our coming. I am so excited to share everything I know. This gospel has changed my life, and I am ready to see it change other people´s lives too. I am so blessed to have come to the CCM here in Madrid because I feel like I've got a big advantage with the language. I talk to the native missionaries as much as possible to practice! I feel like I can understand a ton more and more each day. I am not worried about the language, it'll come with time. Just give me like four days and I'll be fluent.. haha jkkkk. But really. Watch me.
OH ALSO the package came!! It was definitely the best thing in the world. THANK YOU SO MUCH! And yes, I've already eaten the whole package of rolos. JUDGE ME I DARE YOU. And the m&ms arent gone yet. But I can't promise they will make it through the night haha. Also, just for the record, oreos here do not have enough frosting in them. Talk about the worst. I'm gonna have to switch to double stuffed.
Anyway, I'm way excited to leave I'll miss this place for sure. I'll miss being able to talk in english haha my brain hurts after trying to constantly translate spanish for so long. But it'll get easier. Anyway, I'm doing well! Im pumped to see Barcelona and meet my mission president! The church is true! Live it, and BE OBEDIENT! haha. I'm such a missionary. Hashtag missionary for dayyzzzz (thats for you tytyb2) I love you all with my whole heart and my arms around my back! Haha, this is getting real cheesy real fast. I better get off. These other missionaries are straight up fierce when it comes to computer time. I LOVE YOU ALL! I'll talk to you next Monday I guess? idk.. ADIOS! xoxoxox

MTC - Week Six
Hey Family!
Hows everyone doing? I'm glad everyone had such a fun time at the lake last week, it sounded like a blast. So I think this week here was my best week yet! It was a really good week, probably cuz last week we got to go to the mall for p -day and Hermana Snelson and I died and went to heaven when we saw H&M haha. We LOVED it. We felt like we were in America again haha. It was fun. Don't worry I only bought one shirt and one sweater. Definitely necessities. It was funny cuz all the boys were looking for man purses cuz they aren't allowed to wear backpacks here so they were asking all the hermanas for our opinions haha. It was tender.
Also this week they bought dominos pizza for us! Talk about the best thing ever. Yes I ate three pieces. Judge me I dare you. It was a little piece of heaven.
So my spanish is improving. Whenever I get discouraged I have to remember I'm doing really well. Especially since I haven't taken spanish for four years now and it was from those crazy Canton teachers haha. Most people speak way worse than me. I can carry on a conversation somewhat well and I can understand most of what they say as long as they talk slow. We had some native missionaries arrive this week so it's been fun to practice with them. Also subjunctive? Whoever decided that was a good idea is THE WORST. Jk but really haha its hard stuff to learn. I keep getting all my conjugations mixed up haha. Whatever. I do my best. I love learning and seeing how I've improved.
It's weird that this is my last p day here! Rumor has it that we can email quick this coming Monday to say that we are leaving? idk though. So if not, you won't hear from me till next Monday probably. Well see. I'm way excited to get to Barcelona. We leave at 6 am on Tuesday I think. By train. Woot woot. haha. Idk if dear elders work once I leave..I think it might be an mtc thing? If so, I would love letters! But if not, emails are great too! I love hearing from everyone! If you can, send pics in the mail. I'd love that.
So this week in relief society we had a lesson about faith and how sometimes faith is like a foggy day, we can only see just enough to take another step forward, but when we look back, we can see the light, and how far we have come. It's like our missions. They talked about how July 24, 2013 will be the day that my light started to grow. It's so true. I have come so far since being here. I have grown so much in these few weeks and I can't wait for whats ahead. I'm a little nervous but definitely super excited to get out there and change lives! Oh man, I'm pumped. Also shout out, THANK YOU Ms Tyla for the dear elder! That made my day, I love hearing about everyone back at home, it's the best,. ps I wear my gold shoes almost every day here! I love them.
So the other day we watched a devotional by Elder Holland called "dont you dare go home". It was incredible. It was way cool to hear how much his mission impacted him because I want to be the same way. I want to look back on it like it being the best thing I've ever done, so I am excited to make the most of it. In his talk, he talked about why missions are so hard. He said it's because salvation is not a cheap experience. It has to be hard because if we want to call ourselves disciples of Christ, we have to experience tough times. and our tough times here don't even begin to amount to what the Savior went through. It was incredible. It helps me to keep perspective that anytime I think my life is hard, it's not even comparable to what the Savior went through. It always helps me look at the brighter side of things. So I liked that.
Oh funny story. So Austin this is for you. You know how when you squeeze your chin hard it bruises? Haha so I was telling some missionaries about that yesterday and I told them NOT to do it haha and of course one of the elders did anyway and now he has a big bruise on his chin haha I laugh every time I see him, poor kid. I tried to warn him.
Anyway, not a whole lot happened this week sorry, boring email. Just lots of studying. I'm gonna miss it here for sure, and all my friends I've made here, but I'm excited to get out there and work hard. I love this work. I love studying the scriptures. Always remember to keep God first in your life. He will bless you more than you can even imagine. I love you all so much! Thanks for your love and support at home! Share the gospel! The gospel is true!
Love,
Hermana Fry Fry
P.S. Someone tell Mark Doney that he knows my comp .. Holly Snelson. We have so many of the same friends it's way weird. She got a picture of some of her friends the other day and Kim Marshall and Michael Pelo were both in it.. so wild.

MTC - Week Five
Hey All!
So this week was good! On Saturday I will have been here a month already! How crazy is that? And next week is my last week at the CCM.
So you know how I was struggling Thursday, so Shannon sent me that talk and that email with some really inspiring words. Literally changed my life. Thank you so much. I cherish those emails.
So that same night, we watched a talk by Richard G. Scott about prayer. He said be thankful that God lets us struggle sometimes, because when we struggle, that’s when we grow in faith. It’s so true though. I have grown so much in my faith. It’s incredible. It was an amazing talk. Also later I wrote down 10 distinct reasons why I know I’m supposed to be here. It’s incredible how much the Lord has helped me along the way. I know I’m exactly in the right place. So with all this, I decided I was gonna approach going to the park differently.
So on Saturday when we went, I decided I was going to go with complete faith that the Lord would help me. If I would just open my mouth and show them a big smile, the Lord would help me with the rest. We got on the metro to head to the park and I sat next to an older woman. I said hi with a real big smile and she responded nicely. She was going to the hospital to visit a friend. So I told her about our church and GAVE her a Book of Mormon! AND got she filled out a referral cuz she was interested in learning more! What the crazy! It was such a blessing. I told her to read 3 Nephi 11. She got off on the same stop as us but walked ahead of us, when I passed her on the stairs, I noticed her finger holding her place in 3 Nephi. Like she actually was planning on reading it. I was so excited. What an answer from the Lord. I showed my faith first, and he helped me to know that He was right by my side. It was incredible.
After that, our companionship placed two more copies of the Book of Mormon. It was a really awesome day. Even if people didn’t want to hear it all, they were nice and we definitely planted a lot of seeds. It’s incredible how ready a lot of these people are to hear the gospel. The field is white and ready to harvest. I love seeing it all happen. That’s why there are so many missionaries, the Lord has prepared so many people to hear his gospel.
Also I want to thank you Mom and Dad for helping to teach me how to be so obedient as a kid. I have such a strong testimony of obedience here. I’m over obedient haha. I study in every spare second I have. I never stop haha people probably think I’m crazy. But I know the more obedient I am, the more I will learn, and the more the Lord will help me. So thank you for teaching me that while I was young, because it would be hard to have to learn that here.
Also remember how they have gross plain rice here? Well the other day they mixed it with mayo and put it in a tomato haha so sick. Strange stuff in this place. But it’s all good. I love most of the food.
Also I’m glad you got to see me on YouTube! I’m famous.
I can’t think of a whole lot else that happened. My comp always laughs in her sleep. haha It makes me miss Mallory.
Also everything is so expensive here. In the stores they lock up shampoo and conditioner and gum haha how weird is that. Also were going shopping today. I definitely might buy more stuff. Sorry not sorry? haha
I love you all and hope you’re all doing well. Remember the Lord in everything you do. Have faith in His promises and be obedient! Love you!
Love,
Hermana Reid

MTC - Week Four
Hiiiiiii Alll!
So time is starting to fly by a lot quicker. It's weird how the days are so slow and the weeks are so fast. It messes with my mind! Thanks for all the dear elders and emails and Americaaannn love! I love it.
So this week our whole district got stuck in the elevator haha. One of the elders tried to open the door while we were inside and it stopped working, it was way funny. He did it twice actually. These elders haha, you can definitely tell they are fresh outta high school, but they keep things fun.
I think I already said this but they fed us fried milk the other day . It was like sweet tofu that was fried? Yeah totes weird. But I ate it. I eat everything. It's funny cuz when they feed us weird stuff all the sisters eat salad and yogurt. I always eat what they give us . I'm probably gonna get fat. oh well. its fine.
Ummm I cant think of a whole lot that happened this week. It's all kinda the same stuff every week. Lots of studying and teaching and learning.
Oh, last night my comp started reciting D&C 4 in her sleep haha. In spanish too! It was so funny. I love her. I gently patted her dear little face and told her to go back to bed. That scripture is too long, I didn't want to hear the entire thing haha.
Oh also last week we got to go see the real Madrid stadium. It was way cool! I have sweet pics but I can't send anything until after I leave this place. (She was able to send one though!)
Oh also my comp and I literally always match. Not on purpose either. We just always wear the same stuff haha. I think she wants to be me... jkkk.
Mom, I haven't gotten the package you sent yet, but I think it'll come soon. The mailman here is cray cray haha or that's what I've heard. We always get mail out of order.
Umm I don't have much else to say.. I've been reading my scriptures in spanish lately and I'm actually getting it! It's cool. I'm getting the hang of it. Until people start taking fast and then I'm way lost. But it's all good. Anyway, that's all. Love you all! Keep sending love!

MTC - Week Two/Three
Hola! So this is crazy and I have to type fast. Last week we got to go shopping in Madrid city on p-day. It was so gorgeous. I loved it. I have tons of pictures, but I cant send them at the MTC. So you'll have to wait till I'm out.
My Spanish is coming along, I can understand basically everything, unless they talk crazy fast. The lisp thing is weird, but its kinda fun. I can't talk super well, but I love learning. Its weird, I love studying so much, which is good because we study all day. All the elders are fresh outta high school, so they don't get the whole studying thing yet haha. But I love to study. I love being productive. Call me nerdy it's fine.
The temple here is so gorgeous! I love going every week. We literally live ten feet away from it. We are on the same grounds. It's awesome to look out the window every night right at it.
Also, I am known as one of the most loved missionaries here because of all the dear elders I've gotten haha so thank you! Keep sending the love! It makes my life.
Oh ps the food is still way strange here, but it's getting better, or I'm just desperate enough to eat it all haha, but last night was way disgusting. They literally fed us a yellow sponge. It was supposed to be eggs and tuna I think? But it literally just looked like a plasticish sponge haha so nasty. But you learn to love it. They fed us fried milk the other day too. Which actually wasn't that bad.
I love my district! They actually just split us up cuz we were too big. We had like 16 people and they split us in half when some new missionaries came from Provo. Which means our trio companionship was split too. So now it's just me and Hermana Snelson. Hermana Lyons got a new comp. I love Hermana Snelson! She reminds me of Kim Marshall actually (shoutout) but with red hair. Shes tall and athletic and crazy and fun. We get along awesome. Oh also I have great hermanas in my room. One named Hermana Munns is also going to Barcelona with me. She's so sweet. We get along so well. Every time we freak out, we talk to each other and calm each other down haha. She's awesome.

So last week we went the park on Saturday again to talk to people. It's funny cuz most people look at us like were crazy or act like we don't exist haha. You say hi and they look away. I was put with another Russian sister for the park. But she spoke no English or Spanish haha so I did all the talking. But it was good practice for me.
So every day we teach fake investigators. Its way fun. Except sometimes it's harder than you think. The hardest part is not being able to say everything you want because you can't say it in Spanish. But its whatever, haha, I'll learn. I feel so blessed to be here. If there's one thing I've learned, be obedient. Sometimes it's hard, but so worth it. With obedience comes faith. and with faith comes blessings. If you don't have faith, start by being obedient. The faith will come. I learned this week about how sometimes you don't see the blessings until after the trial of your faith. Read Ether 12:6.. good stuff there. I love this gospel, I love teaching, I love feeling the Spirit all the time. It's awesome. Oh and if you're unhappy, serve. Serve as much as you possibly can. You will be so blessed.
I'm learning a lot, and almost to the end of my third week. (the first week was only a half) but after this week, we only have three weeks left here! I'm gonna miss it though I can tell. I love the people here. Anyway, I cant think of a whole lot else to write! I'm learning a lot, loving the study time, love the weather. It's always sunny and not humid. Or at least not compared to home! I'm gonna try and print my emails so I can read them during the week! I love you all! Keep writing!
Love, Hermana Reid

MTC - Week One
So my companion the first two days was Sorella (sister in Italian) Bringas. She is originally from Peru but she lives in Italy now and will serve there soon. She hardly speaks much English but she is the sweetest little thing. I love her. I only was with her for two days cuz we never actually were together. Haha She is in a different class always so I never saw her. So they switched me to be with a group of three. Hermana Lyons from Utah and Hermana Snelson from California. Love them both. Hna Lyons is quiet and sweet and Hna Snelson is loud and crazy like me. The CCM here is interesting. Its right outside the temple. Everyone speaks Spanish and sort of speaks English.
Its really hot and dry here, but nice weather. We had 8 sisters in a tiny dorm room supposed to be for 6 so it was squishy. I guess this is more missionaries than they have ever seen, two just moved out. Oh also I'm in the most advanced class there is here. WHAT THE. I sat with a kid on the plane who is fluent and HE WAS IN MY CLASS. I died when I saw that haha. But I am learning quickly. I understand almost everything spoken to me but I don't speak super well. The days go by so slow, but the weeks are starting to go by fast.
Also the food here is so strange. I think its just the mtc food... not like all of Spain will be like this. Like the other day they fed us cold white rice haha with nothing. But then another day they put some spaghettio tasting sauce on it. Totally strange. But its all good. We eat some strange stuff, but I eat it all. It’s a small cafeteria with like 12 tables Its a small group of missionaries. Which I like because we get to know everyone.
I love my district, there are 13 of us. Just 3 Hermanas' and the rest elders. It’s way cool. But the elders are always distracted haha. Oh also we proselyted in the park last Saturday. They had us switch companions and they put me with a Russian sister! That was crazy. She speaks good English though, but when we had to talk to someone in Spanish I had to do it all .
I'm loving it here though. Some days are better than others. But I love all the devotionals and all the learning. I love to study so much, which is good because we study all day, and then we teach our fake investigators, which are our teachers haha. Oh also sorry I'm all over the place but I'm running out of time. I ate shark and squid the other day! At least that's what someone told me it was. idk my bff Jill. haha. Sorry. It was pretty good though.
Also we get to go to the temple every Thursday. It’s awesome and so beautiful. We get to explore the city today and I am so excited! I am doing well and can't wait to learn everything!
